Solenopsis Molesta is one of the liveliest and most colourful fire ant species found in Canada, beaten only by Myrmica Rubra which is the European Fire Ant which posses a more painful sting and is invasive. Also known as The Thief Ant, they are found in most regions of southern Canada. The colours are most visible under the sun or bright light, the workers are extremely eye-catching too.
At Insect Supplies Canada, we sell live thief ant queens, small colonies and even some large colonies of The Thief Ant. They are one of the easiest ants to keep and are considered a great beginner species for all novice antkeepers.
Queens are normally around 4-6mm while workers range from 3-4mm
The colonies of thief ants can grow very large, they are very active and will live in almost anything they can find and develop until they are a force and can start reproducing more alates!
