Myrmica Rubra is one of the most colourful and largest droptail ant species found in Canada, beaten only by Myrmica Incompleta. Also known as The European Fire Ant, they are found in most regions of southern Canada. The colours are most visible under the sun or bright light, the workers are extremely eye-catching too.
They are in fact an invasive species to Canada so do not, under any circumstances, release them into the wild.

Queens are normally around 4-6mm while workers range from 3-4mm
The colonies of droptail ants can grow very large, they are very active and will live in almost anything they can find and develop until they are a force and can start reproducing more alates!
